Contributions
Brant's cited work covers priapism shunting, artificial urinary sphincter erosion in the TURNS multicenter cohort and infection after inflatable penile prosthesis placement.456
- T-shaped shunt for ischemic priapism (2009). Led a series of 13 men treated under local anesthesia with the T-shunt and intracavernous tunneling: cavernous blood flow was restored in all but 1, and all but 2 recovered erectile function.4 Cited on WARWIKI: Priapism Shunts & Decompression.
- Artificial urinary sphincter erosion (2014). Led the TURNS prospective study of 386 sphincters placed at 8 institutions: 31 (8.0%) were explanted, with higher rates after prior radiation, prior UroLume stent placement and 3.5 cm cuffs.5 Cited on WARWIKI: Artificial Urinary Sphincter (Device).
- Inflatable penile prosthesis infection (2025). Led an analysis of 18,475 US hospital implantations: the infection rate was 3.1% at a median follow-up of 3 years, and type 2 diabetes, spinal cord injury, obesity and concomitant circumcision were associated with higher rates.6 Cited on WARWIKI: Penile Prosthesis Infection, Inflatable Penile Prosthesis.
